After last years smash hit "Christmas is Burning", Café Nordo and Scot Augustson team up for the quirkiest and most delicious theatrical offering this holiday season. "The View from Santas Lap" combines two holiday favorites: Department Stores and Murder. Small town girl Becky June Beasley-Jones, (played by Seattle drag royalty Butch Alice) is on the run from the law for a crime she did not commit and takes refuge in the sprawling Klootzak's department store on Christmas Eve. Little does she know there is a killer on the loose among the festive holiday bargains. Can Becky June put a stop to these whimsical, heart-warming murders before she herself ends up stuffed in a stocking? Beloved local writer and puppeteer Scot Sgt.Rigsby Augustson returns to Nordo to continue a holiday tradition, this year with Food! Music! Mermaids! Tickets to "The View from Santas Lap" include four courses of locally sourced, organic holiday cheer designed by Chef Erin Brindley including the return of the Rosemary Antipasto Wreath and Baby Jesus Bread Loaf. Your meal is inspired by nostalgic department store window displays sure to warm the heart as well as the belly. Seasonal libations will be available for purchase. Live vintage music underscores the evening, with original compositions by Rick Miller, featuring Evan Mosher on trumpet, Annie Ford on fiddle, Miller on guitar, and all three lending vocals. Mike Catts rounds out the quartet on bass in a nostalgic homage to the jazz legend Django Reinhardt. Dozens of characters inhabit the world of Klootzak Department store to help and hinder Becky June played by Susanna Burney, Evan Mosher, Madison Jade Jones, and David Gehrman. And what would Scot Augustsons whimsically wicked storytelling be without the occasional shadow puppet? The lost animated footage of the instant Christmas classic MERMAIDS ON ICE debuts this holiday season in the windows of Klootzaks.
